According to the latest comScore report, U.S. digital retail spending growth remained strong through the last quarter of 2016 and, in line with other findings, shoppers are increasingly opting for mobile.
Compared to Q4 2015, spending on mobile devices has exploded, increasing 45% to over $22 billion. Combined with a 13% increase in desktop ecommerce, overall online retail spending is up 18% over 2015.
Interestingly, the composition of ecommerce sales continues to evolve. Since 2010, the first year of mcommerce revenue tracking, mobile’s share in Q4 retail ecommerce spending has increased from just under 4% to over one-fifth of total ecommerce spending.
The findings of this report reinforce that there is no foreseeable end to the thumb revolution and your business needs to be ready for mobile shoppers in order to maximize your company’s potential revenue.
