You may think that there’s no way people could spend any more time on their smartphones. But the latest Mobility Report from Ericsson suggests that North Americans will be burning through 4 times the amount of data on their phones in just 5 years.
The report, which focuses on the evolution of mobile technologies, analyzed global mobile traffic and found that North Americans are expected to have used the most mobile data by the end of 2017, 6.9GB per smartphone per month which is almost double that of the next most active region – Western Europe. More interestingly, Ericsson predicts that by 2022, each active smartphone in North America will be consuming 26GB of data per month.
