Late last month, Google announced that the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) Project now provides the option to build aspects of ecommerce sites including product and category pages.
Now, while being AMP’d does not yet directly impact rankings, AMP pages will be displayed in the SERPs rather than just in the carousel.
The Project relies on AMP HTML and is designed to help web publishers create fast-loading, mobile-optimized content. The impact on ecommerce according to Google is that “AMP is a natural fit for ecommerce because AMP makes webpages fast, and fast pages help with purchase conversions.”
